Ceramics & textile sculpture

installation sonore textiles et ceramiques collaboration Sophie Baillet x Florence Inoué

Le Dit du Vent

Le Dit du Vent, a ceramics, textile and sound sculpture, is the result of a collaboration with Arlesian ceramicist Florence Inoué. This collaboration was born for the 2025 edition of the collaborative process Les Partisan.e.s*.

Hearing is a sense often activated long before sight: you can hear the sounds of a small fishing port long before you are carried away by its landscape. Rubbing, clinking, creaking. Halyards and ropes vibrating in the wind, chains rattling.

The result of this intense two-month experimental project is a sound sculpture, conceived and created by four hands, combining three materials: clay, thread, and sound.
An evocation of the maritime world carried by the breeze, activating different types of objects and sounds. Bells, blades, and tassels gently chime and ring in the wind or as fingers caress the delicately decorated ribbons of cloth.

Each of the protagonists stepped outside their usual playing field to explore the other’s and propose new developments.
This proposal is the story of an encounter between two personalities, two worlds, two practices. This raises the question: how to bring together two seemingly opposing vocabularies in terms of form, materials and their properties, and the nature of their creations?
