So I decided to share these skills by giving contemporary embroidery workshops in my hometown, Marseilles.<\/p><p><em>If you wish to see more about my personal intuitive embroidery work please click <a href=\"https:\/\/sophiebaillet-design.com\/index.php\/textile-artworks\/\">here<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-8334575 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"8334575\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Why choosing hand embroidery ?<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-a7af339 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"a7af339\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Although hand embroidery can sometimes still being considered as old fashioned, it is a medium chosen by many great contemporary artists, such as Louise Bourgeois, Sheila Hicks, and becomes extremely lively in the new artists generation.<\/p><p>For my part, on top of allowing self expression and creativity, I find it quite meditative ! Being focused on simple and repetitive gestures brings relaxation and peace to the mind.<br \/>For example, hand embroidery is a important part of Zen practice, with the Kesa garment mindful making process, in Japanese buddhism.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-335c9fa elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"335c9fa\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">What is the purpose of contemporary embroidery workshops ?<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element course you exlore intuitive abstract embroidery, related to consciousness of the marks you make on fabric with threads.<br \/>It enables you to get technical skills by learning several stitches and maximizing their potential, and focuses on personal expression.<br \/>Experimenting abstract and intuitive stitching frees yourself of pressure of perfection, you forget about any imposed templates or contemporary embroidery workshop works ?<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3282d13 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"3282d13\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<ul><li>Workshop are collective, with a maximum of 8 (height) attendants (adults), in the workshops room of the artists&#8217; center where my studio in settled\u00a0 in Marseille, 3rd district, or in some other places in the center of town.<br \/>The small number of participants enables me to spend time with each one of you, to help you during the creating process.<\/li><li>The workshops are either adapted to complete beginners or more advanced skills in embroidery, according to each theme, please refer to course description.<\/li><li>Materials and tools are provided during the workshop, you take your own creation with you at the end of the session.<\/li><li>The planning of workshops is published first in my I carried out workshops related to international artist Ghada Amer&#8217;s exhibitions at MUCEM, Frac Sud and Vieille Charit\u00e9 museums. The six hour workshops were intended for two classes of high school students in visual arts. The purpose was to create a collective art piece in relation with feminist expression (January-June, Marseilles, France).<br \/><br \/><\/li><li>2023 : During a week artist residency, in CCAS-EDF holidays center, I have led a workshop on theme of fossils with adults and children above 10 years (Auberville, Normandy, France).<br \/><br \/><\/li><li>2022 : I led an intensive 3 days workshop with women aged 6-77 years from Ukraine, shelted in a holidays center.
